Is Our education system is perpetuating socioeconomic inequality in society?

Education is one of the primary causes that change the destiny of any country. Education has socially, economic, and political impacts on the country. Inequality in education is the unequal distribution of all academic resources, few of them are; unskilled teachers, books, lack of funds, not access to technical education. Globally, many countries have been facing those problems. Every country makes progress in the educational field when they fulfill certain requirements. When countries fail to do, so they face different problems. It is mandated in the constitution of all countries to provide education facilities to their masses. Specifically, if we talk about Pakistan- we know Pakistan is a democratic country. Democracy and education go hand in hand. Illiteracy destroys the whole mechanism of democracy. Pakistan has been facing many problems; inequality is one of its major issues.

Reasons behind the socioeconomic inequalities:

There are a lot of woes in the education field that leads to social inequalities. We discuss some of them:

1) our education system is based on unequal lines.

2) poverty.

3) increasing the ratio of gender discrimination.

4) lack of technical education.

5) lack of funds.

These are a few major causes of inequality in our society. Two different education systems have divided our population into two categories: one is elite class, the other one is middle or lower class. Due to unequal education lines, no country can utilize the abilities of their people for the progress of their country.

Poverty is another cause that triggers inequality in the education field. Unfortunately, a large portion of our population has been living their lives under the poverty line. They do have not enough resources to fulfill their basic needs. In this critical situation, they think education is unnecessary.

Like other developing countries Pakistan has also faced gender discrimination. We have not overcome this issue till now. Lack of education is the main reason behind this problem. Most people think a male child is superior to a female one. They do not provide even basic education facilities to their daughters. Females share a major portion of our population. When we do not utilize their skills in the progress of our country, we face social problems in society.

We can say that the world is making progress every single second; new technologies are coming into the market that changes the whole setup of the world. If one country lack in the field of technical education, one can be failed to provide even basic facilities for their people.

Lack of funds is also one of the primary causes; leading the inequality in different fields of life between the people of the country.

Effects of social-economic inequality:

A poor education system leads to the low living standard of the people. People, due to illiteracy even do not know about their basic rights. If someone suppresses their rights, they even do not realize that. It is often; we see that people, who live in poverty spend their whole lives in poverty because they are not aware of their rights.

Inequality also rigger crime rate in society. People have no idea what is good or bad for them. Illiteracy has become the major cause of crimes. People do not have an idea what is legal or illegal for them. Masses snatch other rights to fulfill their basic needs.

There are also some solutions to overcome this inequality:

First, to provide equal educational facilities to the people of the country regardless of their province, race, caste, creed. In this regard, the Pakistan government takes steps and starts a program. The primary purpose of this organization is to provide education to all.

Educate people know how to contribute their skills to the development of their country. Education is directly proportional to the progress of the country. Education eradicates social inequalities from society.
